An ancient Valyrian fortress on an island of the same name in Blackwater Bay, and the ancestral seat of House Targaryen in Westeros since they fled the Freehold before the Doom. Its walls, shaped into the likenesses of dragons by lost Valyrian arts, sheltered Balerion and generations of dragonriders. Maegor the Cruel was born within its halls. By tradition, the heir apparent to the Iron Throne holds Dragonstone as their seat.
