The gift of seeing what is distant in time — the past that no one recorded, and sometimes what has not happened yet. Those who hold it are called greenseers, and the old tales bind the gift to the weirwoods and to the children of the forest who first kept them.
The maesters treat it as superstition, which is itself worth recording: the archive of Westeros is written by men trained to disbelieve one of the few things in it that might see clearly. What the trees are said to remember, they remember without a chronicler.
